Where has the transport sector reached in Egypt?

The transport sector is one of the passwords in the state's plan for the past 9 years since President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi took over the New Republic Road, to be the "locomotive of development", which contributed to achieving a leap in Egypt's classification according to international indicators of road quality.
Egypt advanced 5 places in the International Logistics Opportunities Index in 2020 thanks to the quality of its infrastructure, to occupy the 23rd place, compared to the 28th place in 2019, in addition to Egypt obtaining the distinguished award from the African Development Bank for road construction for the year 2020.
Green Logistics Applications:
The Ministry of Transport succeeded in embodying the Egyptian vision and the importance it attaches to the green transition in dealing with the logistics of holding the Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh. The number of vehicles reached 150 to transport delegations through an electronic application. The application can also organize the management and operation of the vehicle fleet in an effective and orderly manner.

Green transportation system
The Ministry of Transport established the central operations room for the sustainable green transportation system in Sharm El-Sheikh, and provided 120 gas-powered buses, including 100 buses belonging to the Cairo Public Transport Authority, and 20 others belonging to a private company, in addition to 140 electric buses.
The system included the provision of code reading devices inside the buses, integration with the Google Maps system, and the implementation of 171 intermediate stations along the routes to consolidate the integration of the bus route network with the smart means provided.
Clean energy
The Minister of Transport, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, expressed the state's determination to move towards sustainability and clean energy in the transport sector.
Solar energy
The minister revealed the "transportation" plan to use solar energy in the main railway stations as well as the roofs of workshops and government buildings, referring to the study of the possibility of benefiting from the roofs of trains as renewable energy sources.
Low Carbon Transport for Urban Sustainability Initiative
The Climate Summit witnessed the launch of the Minister of Transport, the "Low Carbon Transportation for Urban Sustainability" initiative, affirming the country's keenness to support the development of fair, healthy, green and flexible transport systems globally and in developing countries within 10 months.
Electric traction projects
In the field of electric traction projects, Egypt has achieved a quantum leap in green transport projects and clean energy, in order to confront climate changes through a strategy to shift to operating green mass transit systems that are environmentally friendly, and to expand the implementation of advanced, urban and environment-friendly mass transit projects.
