Al-Sisi comments on Israel's calls to displace Palestinians from Gaza to Sinai

Today, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi commented on Israel’s calls to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Sinai.

Sisi said, during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Schulz: “If there is an idea to displace the Palestinians, there is the Negev Desert in Israel.”

He added: “There is the Negev Desert until Israel finishes its declared mission of liquidating the resistance or armed groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and then they will be sent back again.”

Dragging Egypt into a war against Israel

He stressed that the idea of displacing the Palestinians to Sinai means dragging us into a war against Israel, reiterating his country’s refusal to liquidate the Palestinian cause by displacing the Palestinians.

He added: “The continuation of military operations and escalation in Gaza threatens the entire region,” stressing the necessity of resolving the Palestinian issue from a comprehensive perspective that ensures achieving the two-state solution.

He called for the necessity of allowing humanitarian aid to pass into the Gaza Strip, adding: “Egypt has not closed the Rafah crossing since the start of the escalation, and we do not accept to bear the consequences of the escalation in Gaza and the destruction of peace.”

The Egyptian President indicated that millions of Egyptians are ready to demonstrate, rejecting the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
