Raise the minimum wage for the private sector in early July
New increase in the minimum wage comes within the framework of the Egyptian state's policies for private sector workers, and to provide them with a decent life.
The National Wages Council decided in its meeting, which was chaired by Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, to raise the minimum wage for workers in the private sector, from 2,700 to 3,000 pounds, starting next July.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hassan Shehata, Minister of Labor, Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women, Dr. Saleh Al-Sheikh, Head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration, and Major General Khairat Barakat, Head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
Dr. Hala Al-Saeed said, the meeting came based on the agreement of the National Council for Wages, to hold a meeting at the end of the first half of the year, to discuss the effects of economic conditions, and to review the minimum wage in the private sector again, and accordingly the Council decides the necessary measures to help workers.
Raise the minimum wage to 3,000 pounds
The Minister of Planning confirmed that the council’s decision to raise the minimum wage to 3,000 pounds is consistent with the council’s policy of achieving a balance between the interest of workers and business owners, and is in line with the current economic changes and high inflation rates.
She explained that any decision taken by the Council is discussed extensively with all parties, taking into account the interests of all.

Strengthen labor relations
Pointing out that the Ministry of Labor is constantly working to strengthen labor relations and social dialogue between the two parties to the production process, including employers and workers, and that it is keen to achieve balance and the interests of both parties within the framework of a decent and healthy work environment.
He explained that while the state seeks to preserve workers' rights, it is also keen on stabilizing facilities, increasing production, and supporting companies that need support.
Standing by the rights of the worker and educating him of his duties in light of the culture of the "New Republic", which adopts the language of social dialogue as its title in facing the challenges that the whole world is going through.
Create a committee within the council committees
For her part, Dr. Hanan Nazeer, coordinator of the National Wages Council, reviewed a number of the Council's work files and the results of the preliminary meetings held with representatives of labor and employers' federations regarding these files that were discussed in the Council meeting today.
A proposal to establish a committee within the Council’s committees to organize the work of the Sectoral Skills Council was also discussed.
