There is a state of concern among citizens about the lack of cold medicines in pharmacies with the advent of winter, which prompted the General Division of Pharmacists to clarify the matter.

To reassure the citizens, Dr. Ahmed Idris, the official spokesman for the General Division of Pharmacists at the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, said that drug prices are stable so far and have not yet been affected by the Central Bank's decision.

He said that Egypt imports the raw materials that are used in the manufacture of medicine, and that cold medicines are well available in pharmacies and there is no shortage of them because the state is interested in providing medicines continuously.

Buying from pharmacies

Idris explained that there is a good stock of cold medicines, as all medicines are well available, and dispensing cold medicines does not require a prescription, unlike some cases in which the patient must refer to the doctor first, such as patients suffering from pressure diseases and stomach ulcers, The drug should be dispensed under the supervision of a physician.

Bring a recent medical prescription to dispense the medicine

The official spokesperson for the General Division of Pharmacists explained that there are some medications that the patient must attend to a recent medical prescription in order for the medication to be dispensed to him, in the medications related to mental illnesses or that affect mental health.

Selling medicines online is dangerous

Idris explained that the phenomenon of selling medicines via the Internet is very dangerous, as the only place to sell medicines is the pharmacy, as diagnosing diseases and dispensing medicines via the Internet may lead to many serious problems for the patient who is indispensable.

He pointed out that the Division fights the presence of counterfeit medicines, advising the patient to buy medicine through pharmacies that have a license from the Ministry of Health, and that have a pharmacist.
