A national campaign to save 16 million children from polio

In his initiative to eradicate diseases in Egypt, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that interest in dealing with the Corona pandemic should not diminish the state's interest in other diseases, health programs and presidential initiatives.

With regard to other diseases, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed that Egypt is free of polio.

Abdel Ghaffar added: "The interest in public health and presidential initiatives did not stop, and they went hand in hand with dealing with the Corona pandemic."

Abdel Ghaffar continued, in order to preserve this record and public health, the Ministry of Health launches national campaigns, and they will continue for 4 days.

Vaccination of 16 million children

A spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population continued, "We are targeting 16 million children from the campaign for free, as the Egyptian state bears the cost."

He added "We are moving through fixed vaccination centers such as family medicine units, health centers or health offices, or through medical teams to vaccinate millions of citizens against diseases”.

It should be noted that The Ministry of Health provides a large package of vaccinations against polio from the moment of birth until the age of 5 years, which are routine vaccinations and vaccinations of national campaigns.

Corona crisis

Abdel Ghaffar affirmed: “The success of the Egyptian state in light of global conditions at the level of availability of vaccines is a good thing, as we are moving with the same performance that we were moving with before global conditions, the Corona crisis and current events in the world, which confirms that the Egyptian state is working according to clear guidance from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to preserve the health of the citizen, because it is a top priority.

A national campaign to vaccinate against polio

The national campaign for vaccination against polio was launched yesterday, Sunday, December 11, 2022, according to what was announced by the Ministry of Health and Safety, and the specified age for vaccinating children came from the age of one day to 5 years, from December 11 to 14, 2022 in all governorates of Egypt.

Polio vaccinations

It should be taken into account that there are side effects that a small percentage of children are exposed to after receiving the polio vaccination, and the symptoms usually disappear automatically, which are as follows:

• A rise in temperature 

• Mild diarrhea or vomiting.

• Poor mood, after receiving polio vaccination.

The Ministry of Health clarified the locations of polio vaccination, confirming that the vaccination will be carried out through fixed teams in each of:

1. Health offices

2. Health units and medical centers.

3. Major squares and train stations.

4. Subway and bus.

5. gathering places.

6. Mosques, churches and clubs.

7. Markets, travel car parks and parks.

8. There are mobile teams from apartment to apartment nationwide to reach all children.
