The American Boeing surpasses the European Airbus in aircraft sales
The American Boeing group for the aircraft industry surpassed the European Airbus in the number of agreements concluded by the two companies in the first two days of the Dubai Air Show 2023.
The American aircraft manufacturer Boeing Group announced on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, that it had received a new order from Ethiopian Airlines. On the second day of the Dubai Air Show after signing a huge deal with Emirates Airlines.
Aircraft sales at the Dubai Expo
According to the Gulf newspaper, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Misfin Tasio said in a press conference that the African company ordered 20 737-8 and 11 787-9 aircraft, with the opportunity to purchase 36 additional aircraft in order to expand our network and support our growth.
For his part, the vice president of the commercial department at the Boeing Group praised the partnership with the largest airline in Africa, which owns the newest fleet in Africa.
The deal is worth more than $5.6 billion, according to the announced price list, but it is rarely committed due to discounts given to airlines.
And the two sides also signed an agreement to renew the Ethiopian company's fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft.
The importance of the Dubai Air Show
It seems that the Dubai Air Show, which will be held until next Friday, will provide important deals for the American manufacturing company, which announced on Monday the signing of a huge deal worth 52 billion dollars with the giant "Emirates Airlines" to buy 90 777X aircraft and five 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
In turn, Fly Dubai, which is based in Dubai, announced the signing of a deal worth 11 billion dollars to buy 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, which will become its first wide-body aircraft.
For its part, the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Group has so far not taken up much space at the show, concluding more modest deals.
Purchases of Egypt Air Company
After announcing on Monday that it had received an order to buy 30 A220-300 aircraft from the low-cost Latvian company Air Baltic, it confirmed on Tuesday that it had signed a deal with EgyptAir to buy ten A350-900 aircraft.
Airbus said in a statement, EgyptAir customers will soon travel to destinations around the world aboard the new Airbus A350-900 aircraft, after the airline revealed an order to purchase 10 aircraft at the Dubai Air Show.
At a press conference during the exhibition, Airbus commercial director Christian Shearer considered it an important stop in a long and very fruitful partnership between EgyptAir and Airbus, which dates back more than four decades.
The value of the deal is 3.2 billion dollars according to the latest price list published by Airbus, but it is rarely committed due to discounts given to airlines.
