EGP 225 billion for railway projects until 2024
The country plans to set up many projects and develop several railways until 2024.
The state allocated EGP 225 billion for railway projects during the period from 2014 to 2024.
1. 6,600 km of roads have been constructed and developed.
2. EGP 32 billion were spent in developing the railway system.
3. 365 bridges and tunnels have been implemented.
4. A number of road and transportation axes projects have been inaugurated, including the Qus axis in Qena Governorate, with a length of 19 km.
It connects the eastern desert road with the agricultural road north of the city of Samalut and the desert road west across the Nile River.
5. Kalabsha axis, Aswan Governorate
The Kalabsha axis was opened in Aswan Governorate, with a length of 23 km.
It connects the agricultural road to the east with the western agricultural road and the desert road to the west.
6. Dayrout al-Farafra axis, the first phase, with a length of 15 km, linking the east and west of the Nile.
7. Western Upper Desert Road (Cairo / Minya)
The state has developed the Western Desert Highway (Cairo/Minya) with a length of 230 km, the dual carriageway (Safaga-Qusayr-Marsa Alam) with a length of 200 km, in addition to a number of bridges and slides, including:
• The Directorate Square Bridge in Beni Suef Governorate.
• Al-Balina Bridge in Sohag Governorate.
• A bridge above the Toshka spillway.
125 companies are participating in the implementation of road projects, including 122 private sector companies, with more than 80,000 employees and workers.
