EGP150 billion to implement decent life projects in the 2023/2024 plan
EGP 150 billion will be allocated in 2024/2023 to complete the implementation of the targeted projects in the first phase of the initiative.
Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, delivered the statement of the draft sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 23/2024 before the plenary session of the House of Representatives today, headed by Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jabali.
Integrated rural development
During her speech, Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed the objectives of the plan for the next fiscal year in the field of integrated rural development, as the plan aims, within the framework of the state's strategic direction towards the development of Egyptian villages, to complete the implementation of the first phase of the Decent Life initiative to complete its completion during the year of the plan, as well as to start implementing the phase The second of this initiative is to expand its geographical scope to cover 1,600 villages.
A decent life initiative
The Minister of Planning confirmed that the Decent Life initiative reflects an unprecedented radical transformation of the Egyptian countryside by targeting the provision of the needs of Egyptian villages in terms of infrastructure and public services, and creating ways to improve income and the standard of living.
150 billion pounds for decent life projects
Hala Al-Saeed indicated that EGP 150 billion will be allocated in 2024/2023 to complete the implementation of the targeted projects in the first phase of the initiative. Of which EGP 52.5 billion are for sanitation projects, including the establishment of 167 treatment plants and 1,441 sewage pumping stations. And the implementation of networks with a length of 21.3 thousand km, including the allocation of 28.4 billion pounds to complete the development of electricity networks in 1466 villages, as well as the allocation of 19.1 billion pounds to complete the construction of 323 drinking water purification plants, and the extension of water networks with a length of 8.5 thousand km.
Field of irrigation
About 12.4 billion pounds are being allocated for a project to rehabilitate and cover the canals of the first and second phases, with a length of 6,330 km, and the construction of 608 irrigation bridges.
Field of health care
In the field of health care, 8.9 billion pounds were allocated to complete the development of 24 central hospitals, 1,102 health units and 367 ambulance units.
Field of communications
In the field of communications, 5.6 billion pounds were allocated to complete the connection of the optical fiber network to 1,468 villages, allowing these villages to be connected to the high-speed Internet.
Developing roads
In the field of developing main roads and railway stations, 4.2 billion pounds have been allocated to complete 164 main roads and 166 railway stations.
At the level of local roads, 2.6 billion pounds have been allocated for paving works in 1446 villages.
Agricultural services
In the field of agricultural services, government complexes, and local security services (Fire stations and police points), education services, youth, sports, social solidarity, and natural gas delivery.
Total funds have been allocated for these service activities amounting to about 8.1 billion pounds.
Development projects in the 2024/2023 plan
Hala Al-Saeed indicated that the most important local development projects included in the 2023/2024 plan, including: developing the axes of some roads in North and South Sinai and the Abu Rawash area in Giza, developing the lighting system in Luxor, Aswan, Halayeb and Shalatin, developing the civil protection system in Cairo, Fayoum and Assiut, and constructing and completing car bridges hwich located in Beni Suef and Qalyubia, in addition to environmental improvement projects, including the establishment of a solid waste plant in Assiut, support for the waste management system in Sohag, diverting drains in Giza, and activating the launch of the 100 million trees initiative.
