A one-day trip from Hurghada to Luxor played an important role in increasing the number of monuments and tourism to places such as the historical city of Thebes.

One-day excursions dates in Luxor

Luxor trip from Hurghada takes place on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays every week.

Tourists travel to Luxor to visit the temples of Karnak and Luxor in the east, then cross the Nile to visit the western monuments, including the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Ramesseum Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, the City of Hebu and the Valley of the Kings.

Mohamed Othman, head of the Luxor Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee, said that the visits that took place during the current season will eventually exceed the numbers recorded in 2019.

14 million tourists in Egypt

He added that the number of visitors to Egypt around the world is expected to reach more than 14 million this year.

He said that the Ministry of Tourism launched an initiative entitled "Follow the Sun" to attract Europeans to live in Luxor, and 175 families have already been encouraged to do so.

He added that the future will witness more cultural events and conferences in Luxor, as five fashion shows have already been presented in its temples.

Increasing demand for fixed and floating hotels

Othman said that the city is witnessing an unprecedented boom with increased occupancy during the winter season in both fixed and floating hotels.

The increase in occupancy was a result of Luxor attracting new visitors from markets such as Southeast Asia and China.

There was also a 30 percent increase in visitors from the Spanish market.
