9 proposals to revitalize the tourism sector in Egypt

A report issued by the Information and Decision Support Center of the Council of Ministers highlighted the performance of the tourism sector in Egypt and ways to develop it during the next year 2023.

The results of a study prepared by a group of specialists and experts revealed the "general index of the tourism barometer" in order to follow up, measure and evaluate the current and expected performance of tourism sector activities in Egypt.

Its results confirmed the existence of an optimistic view regarding the performance of the tourism sector and the Egyptian economy, based on the opinions of a group of representatives of the private tourism sector, including officials of tourism companies, hotel and tourist establishments and their employees, in addition to a number of experts and responsible leaders in this regard.

The value of the general index of the tourism barometer in Egypt recorded 108.6 points, as the study indicates that the value of the index when it is higher than 100 points indicates a state of optimism.

During this study, the evaluations and positive effects of government measures to promote the tourism sector were referred to, which contributed to an optimistic outlook for the development of the tourism sector in the short term (six months).

This is in addition to reviewing the assessments of the views of officials of hotel and tourism establishments and experts in the sector, which indicated an improvement in the performance of tourism and hotel establishments, as well as the performance of workers and employees in them during the month of September 2022 compared to the previous six months, which led to an increase in the performance of the tourism sector as a whole and its significant contribution to The Egyptian economy during this month.

Therefore, most experts and officials concerned with tourism expect an increase in the performance of these facilities during the coming period.

The study also reviewed some of the proposals of experts in the tourism sector to revitalize the tourism sector in Egypt during the coming period, including:

1- Improving the level of services at Egyptian airports.

2- Establishing partnerships and contracts with major tour operators and international tourism companies, which have an important role in directing tourist delegations.

3- Providing assistance to hotel establishments.

4- Reducing fees for hotel and tourist establishments, raising the professional competence of their employees, and giving them training courses to qualify them for tourism work.

5- Simplifying procedures for establishing tourism investment projects.

6- Raising tourism awareness for those dealing with the tourist and tightening control for good dealing with the tourist, promoting the Egyptian tourist destination and highlighting its various components and the diversity of its tourism patterns and products.

7- Opening new tourist markets and driving more incoming tourism.

8- Activating domestic tourism by raising the efficiency of the tourism infrastructure, including roads and means of transportation, to facilitate access to various tourist destinations.

9- Interest in yacht tourism and the establishment of specialized ports on the shores of Egypt, which works to achieve a large return for the benefit of the national economy.
