Following up developments
President El-Sisi touched on following up developments in the workflow at the Grand Egyptian Museum, in light of the start of the limited trial operation, and the completion of work in many sectors, including the museum building, the Great Hall and the Great Staircase, the Hanging Obelisk Square, the gardens surrounding the museum and the service buildings.
The executive position of the stages of work and final preparations was also reviewed, especially with regard to halls and galleries, the Museum of King Khufu's boats, and preparations for transporting artifacts to their permanent display places.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said yesterday when he meted with Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Dr. Asim Al-Gazzar, Minister of Local Development, Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Ahmed Issa, as well as Governor of Giza, Mr. Ahmed Rashid, and the President's Adviser for Urban Planning, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed.
Grand Egyptian Museum
One of the new museums that the Egyptian state has worked to establish recently, taking advantage of its location near an area teeming with Egyptian treasures from ancient antiquities, the "Pyramids area in Giza", is the Grand Egyptian Museum, inside which work is in full swing until it is opened to the public.
Ahmed Essa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, conducted an inspection tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum several days ago, in order to follow up on the latest developments in the work and the executive position for the remaining works in it.
The minister started his tour by inspecting the museum's glass foyer, where he saw the statue of King Ramses II at the entrance to the foyer, which greets visitors to the museum.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is located on an area of about 117 acres, or 500,000 square meters, so many matters were taken into account when designing, such as allocating external and internal spaces for visitors to rest and enjoy the museum's antiquities display.

The artifacts that were transferred to the Grand Egyptian Museum are about 56,000 unique artifacts, from the stores of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and from Alexandria, Luxor and Mansoura, according to the display scenario.
Issa Zaidan, Director General of Executive Affairs for the Transfer of Antiquities, said that a tourist walkway will be established linking the Grand Egyptian Museum and the pyramids with a length of 2 km.
