It seems that Egypt is on a promising future that will generate billions because of the natural gas discoveries that are constantly announced.

In good news for the Egyptians, the Italian company “Eni” announced a new discovery in the field of gas in the eastern Mediterranean off the Egyptian coast.

According to the Italian "Porto Rivina" website, the Italian company announced an important discovery of natural gas, in the “Narges 1”, in the concession of the offshore Narges area, in the eastern Mediterranean, off the coast of Egypt.

The company explained that during the company's work on the “Nargis 1”, in which drilling work is being carried out for 309 meters, by the “Stina Fors” drilling ship, the company found at a depth of 61 sandstones containing gas.

The offshore Narges concession covers 445,000 acres, and the Italian company has been operating in Egypt since 1954.

Egypt reserves of natural gas

Earlier, Eng. Osama Kamal, the former Minister of Petroleum, said that Egypt's natural gas reserves before the” Zohr” field were about 60 trillion cubic feet of gas.

He pointed out that Egypt's needs range between 2.7 and 3 trillion annually.

Kamal added that the “Zohr” field added 30 trillion cubic feet of gas, which led to a significant increase in the reserve number.

He explained that the evidence, indicators and aerial survey of the Mediterranean region for Egypt confirm the presence of more than 230 trillion cubic feet of gas.

The former Minister of Petroleum confirmed that the demarcation of the maritime borders leads to the entry of companies to start search and exploration operations.

He explained that the demarcation of Egypt's maritime borders is in accordance with the international rules of the United Nations' maritime border demarcation mechanisms, stressing that Egypt has devices that can implement the file, in accordance with the United Nations Convention in its entirety.

The discovery of a new natural gas field in the city of Disouq in Kafr El-Sheikh

“SDX” Energy, a subsidiary of the Canadian “Sea Dragon Group”, operating in the oil and gas field in Egypt, announced its discovery of natural gas while it was drilling for the” SD-1X “ well in the South Disouq concession in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.

The company indicated in a statement on its website that it had reached a drilling depth of about 7,777 feet, which is the target depth of this well, which is the layer called Abu Madi, noting that gas production in this layer reaches a height of 65 feet.

The company works with “Petro Amir” Company, northwest of Gamsa in the Gulf of Suez region, where it produces about 6,000 barrels per day.

Find gas east of Damanhur

The State Information Service announced that the German “Wintershall Dea” company was able to find gas in the exploration area east of Damanhur in the onshore Nile Delta region.

The authority indicated that the Desouk Petroleum Company (Desoco) operates the Desouk gas project. It is a joint venture between  “Wintershall Dea” and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).

It is noteworthy that Egypt earns about $500 million a month from natural gas exports.
