Ahmed Issa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, announced that Egypt received the largest number of tourists, about 1.35 million, during the month of April, explaining that this is the largest number that Egypt receives in one month.

Egypt received about 7 million tourists during the first five months of this year, pointing out that Egypt aims to receive 15 million tourists by the end of this year, and from 18 to 20 million tourists during the next year 2024.

According to the official statistics of the Ministry of Tourism, about 11.7 million tourists visited Egypt during the year 2022, and there are estimates that the current year will witness a growth in incoming tourism by 28%, which contributes to bringing the number of tourists to 15 million.

And the Minister of Tourism had stated, during the month of March, that the incoming tourism movement in the months of January and February witnessed a growth of 35% compared to the corresponding period of last year.

Among the reasons for the growth in the increase in tourists:

- Facilitating visa issuance procedures.

- Diversity of Egyptian tourist destinations, in addition to the fact that Egypt has a diversity of tourist destinations that tourists from all over the world accept.

- There was also a distinct willingness to receive tourists after the emerging Corona pandemic, which was not available in other markets.

- Facilitating the issuance of tourist visas upon arrival at the airport or via the Internet through the "VISA to Egypt" website, in addition to targeting new markets, security stability and good diplomatic relations with all countries.

- Many tourists in different countries were keen to do medical tourism in Egypt, which has a role in hospitalization.

- Medical tourism in Egypt is considered one of the sources of national income. This tourism is characterized by the provision of medical and tourism services at the same time in the places designated for it in the governorates of Egypt, where many Egyptian governorates have great potential in this type of medical tourism, which is considered one of the elements that distinguish it from many countries of the world.

- The Egyptian environment is characterized by the open air, the bright sun, clean sand, and warm therapeutic water. There are also many places in Egypt that contain mineral and sulfur water, sand, and silt that help treat many different diseases.

- One of the most important features of medical tourism in South Sinai (Bath Musa), where its water is used to cure many rheumatism and skin diseases. Saint Catherine.

- The New Valley Governorate is characterized by a large number of hot mineral springs and sands rich in salts and minerals, in addition to sulfuric water, vegetable oils and herbs that are used in the treatment of some diseases.

- The Siwa Oasis region, which is considered one of the most important Egyptian oases, which is famous for medical and hospital tourism, especially burial in sand and helps in the treatment of rheumatism, rheumatism, roughness and spine pain.

In related context, Law No. 19 of 2023 stipulates that a fund called the “Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund” will be established, which will have a legal personality, and its headquarters will be in the Cairo governorate, and it will report to the minister concerned with tourism and antiquities affairs.
