$10.7 billion..Tourism revenues in 2022
The tourism sector recovered during the fiscal year 2021-2022, and tourism revenues increased by about $5.9 billion, to record $10.7 billion, compared to $4.9 billion during the previous fiscal year 2020-2021.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, expected to achieve what is being targeted during the year 2023, which is the visit of 15 million tourists during the current year.
The minister said, "I expect that we will achieve the target and increase it, especially in light of the new facilities and facilitations that have been provided to citizens of a number of countries to visit Egypt."
Advisor to the World Tourism Organization, Saaid Al-Batouti, said: According to official figures, Egypt received 11.7 million international tourists last year, compared to 7.6 million in 2021, 3.7 million in 2020, and 13 million in 2019.
According to the growth rate that was monitored for the months of January and February, which amounted to 34% over the same two months of last year, the number of tourists is expected to reach 15 million during the current year, meaning that the number will exceed 2010 (the peak year), which The number of tourists reached 14.7 million.

He continued: “With regard to tourism revenues, according to the Central Bank of Egypt, it increased during the fiscal year 2021-2022 to $ 10.7 billion, and the figure related to the year 2022 was not released after tourism revenues amounted to $ 8.9 billion in 2021, $ 4.4 billion in 2020 and $ 14 billion.
The year 2019, which represented the peak year for Egypt regarding tourism revenues, according to the Central Bank of Egypt.
