Gaza war

The war between Israel and Hamas is entering its third month, amid real fears for the fate of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The specter of a new displacement looms again. It is the second displacement after clashes entered the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

From the far north to the center, and from the center to the south. The suffering of displacement imposed by Israel on the residents of Gaza since the beginning of its military operations against the Strip.

Now the displacement journey has reached its climax, with nearly two million Palestinians crammed into a very narrow geographical area, and renewed fears of a plan to force the population of the Strip to move to Sinai, a plan that Egypt has repeatedly warned against and considers it a red line for its national security.

Warning as Israel's attacks continue

The warning comes as Israel's attacks continue and push Palestinians in central Gaza to flee south towards the border city of Rafah.

Starting from the north of the Gaza Strip, forcing the residents of the cities and towns of Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, Gaza, and Jabalia Camp to flee and head to the center and the city of Khan Yunis. After forcing the majority of the population to leave, Israel began its ground operation.

After the end of the truce, Israel moved to a second phase, re-displacing many of those who had previously been displaced, and forcing them to go to Rafah on the border with Egypt.

The city of Khan Yunis was subjected to intense air and artillery bombardment in preparation for a ground operation similar to what Israel is carrying out in the north, to pursue those it says are Hamas leaders.

With successive waves of displacement and re-displacement, huge numbers of displaced people accumulated in Rafah and its environs, which in turn were not spared from violent Israeli air strikes.

Displacement continues

The continued displacement, and the close proximity of these huge numbers to the Egyptian border, renewed Cairo’s anger and rejection of the displacement plans, reiterating its warning against attempts to undermine its security.

Since the outbreak of fighting in Gaza, senior Egyptian officials, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, have warned of the displacement plans and their repercussions on the relationship with Israel and the region.

A few days ago, in a rare statement, the Egyptian Defense Minister touched on developments in the situation in Gaza, and said that the Palestinian issue is facing a very dangerous curve, and stressed the readiness and ability of the army to protect the country.

For his part, member of the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah movement, Muhammad Al-Hourani, said that what Israel is doing in the Gaza Strip is a crime against the Palestinian people who have suffered from the scourges of the Israeli occupation, adding that from an international perspective and based on the statements of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, what Israel is doing It is a war crime against the Palestinians.

Al-Hourani confirmed:

The necessity of escalating Arab positions alongside the Egyptian and Jordanian positions to be a supportive wall for the Palestinian issue.

He explained that Israeli statements justifying its military operations by striking Hamas targets are misleading public opinion to continue implementing its plans.
