The Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen, affirmed the Kingdom's desire to cooperate and strengthen economic and trade relations and develop investment in Sudan for the benefit of both countries.

During the Sudanese-Saudi Consultative Forum, which began its work in Khartoum yesterday, the economic sector in the Sudanese government put forward 6 main sectors for Saudi investments, including energy, electricity, mining, transportation, communications, fisheries and railways.

The Sudanese government affirmed its commitment to removing all obstacles facing investment and investors in the country through a single window to unify investment procedures.

Saudi investments in Sudan

Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Taher Harbi, said that Saudi Arabia has provided great support to Sudan in the current transitional phase, and has also contributed to removing it from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, breaking the economic blockade, partially exempting Sudan from debt, and its contribution to the bridging loan by supporting Sudan with about $3 billion.

He stressed that Saudi investments in Sudan are successful, especially in the areas of rain-fed agriculture, animal production and forestry.

Green Sudan

He pointed out that the discussion meeting contributes to strengthening relations in order to reach the goal of expanding in the fields of investment and development so that the governments of the two countries can provide food and respond to the needs of the region and neighboring markets in light of food shortages, climate change factors and the spread of the Corona pandemic.

Harbi affirmed Sudan's commitment to what follows in the Saudi 2030 initiatives, the achievement of a green Sudan, and the start of implementing the African Great Green Barrier programs and reducing global emissions in cooperation with international organizations.

Investment and international cooperation in Sudan

Previous understandings took place between officials of the two countries to find solutions to the obstacles facing Saudi investments in Sudan.

The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation in Sudan, Al-Hadi Mohamed Ibrahim, said that investment opportunities were discussed and reviewed in 6 sectors: agriculture, livestock, transport and infrastructure, mining, electricity and energy, communications and digital transformation.
