Electricity generation and yellow hydrogen.. Dabaa nuclear power plant contribute to the production of clean energy

The Dabaa nuclear plant is considered the heart of Egypt's 2030 strategy to improve the Egyptian people and achieve its goals, whether social, political or economic, and achieve a quality of life.

Head of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, Dr. Amgad El-Wakil, said that the establishment of the Dabaa nuclear power plant to generate electricity within 10 years is evidence of global confidence in the Egyptian economy.

It must be noted that Egypt is a leading country in the field of nuclear energy since the fifties of the last century, starting with the Atomic Energy Committee and ending with the Atomic Energy Authority, which has a major role in nuclear energy research and the start of the implementation of the Egyptian nuclear program to generate electricity restores its leading position in this field that began 70 years ago.

We can be said that the Nuclear Power Plants Authority has great experience in choosing sites that are suitable for the construction of nuclear reactors and how to prepare tender documents and negotiate over a period of two and a half years to contract 4 contracts for the construction of the nuclear reactor.

A regional center to support the Arab countries

  All these experiences can be used by other countries, and Egypt is ready to cooperate with the Arab countries, and a study is underway to establish a regional center to support the Arab countries in establishing nuclear reactors, as nuclear energy is an important element in sustainable development.

Today, energy has become the most important pillar of sustainable development. Therefore, Egypt has developed a clear program to achieve economic and social development, reflecting a clear understanding of the challenges we face not only in Egypt but all over the world.

Egypt's Vision 2030 to diversify energy sources

This was reflected in Egypt's Vision 2030 by diversifying energy sources as one of the most essential elements for achieving the goals of this vision, which represents one of the strategic options to enhance Egypt's development plans, by increasing the share of electricity generated from nuclear power plants to 9% of the total energy mix by 2030.

Yellow hydrogen production

For its part, the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, represented by the Nuclear Stations Authority, is studying the production of yellow hydrogen through the Dabaa station.

Yellow hydrogen is a marine fuel and is classified as a clean source.

The launch of such projects is carried out in cooperation with international companies, and these plans come within the strategy of the ministry and the government to transform Egypt into a regional energy center, targeting the export of produced fuel.
