Egypt's exports of liquefied gas in 2022 surpassed Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman and Algeria in terms of the growth rate in total exports compared to 2021.
A report by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) revealed in the last quarter of last year, Egyptian liquefied gas exports recorded a growth rate of 12.1% on an annual basis.
The report indicated that Egypt's exports of liquefied gas in the total year 2022 recorded the highest percentage at the level of Arab countries. It surpassed the Sultanate of Oman, whose exports increased by 6.6%, and Qatar by only 2%.

A report issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum revealed that Egypt's total production of natural gas amounted to 50.6 million tons, according to data seen by the specialized energy platform.
Egypt achieved a record for gas exports, reaching 8 million tons - including gas exports through pipelines - in 2022, compared to about 7 million tons in 2021.
Damietta station for liquidation
The liquefaction station in Damietta achieved an outstanding performance during the year 2022; The total shipments exported during the year amounted to about 4.14 million tons. It is the highest rate exported from the station since its launch in 2005.
Last February, the gas liquefaction complex in Damietta succeeded in producing and exporting 500 shipments, since it started operating in 2005.
Although the work at the natural gas liquefaction plant in Damietta was suspended for 8 years; It has returned to full operation since February 2021.
Since its restart in 2021, the plant has succeeded in exporting 7.2 million tons of liquefied natural gas. Of which more than 4 million tons in 2022.
Receiving markets for Egyptian liquefied gas exports
Turkey topped the list of destinations receiving liquefied gas exports from Damietta station, with a share of 27%, according to the OAPEC report.
Combined, European markets, including Turkey and the United Kingdom, accounted for about 80% of the total exports of the Damietta liquefaction station in 2022.
$8.4 billion increase in liquefied gas export
The value of Egypt's gas export revenues amounted to $8.4 billion in 2022 compared to $3.5 billion in 2021, an increase of 140%, due to the increase in liquefied gas export prices globally.
