A government report issued by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development stated that 157 development projects have been completed in Alexandria Governorate, at a cost of EGP 4.6 billion.

This according to the “Citizen Follow-up” report, which includes an inventory of projects that have been fully completed in the main sectors, during the fiscal year (2021/2022), according to the program methodology and performance, and linking them to the relevant sustainable development goals.

Projects in 6 sectors

The government completed the implementation of 157 development projects in 6 sectors (local development, education, transportation, housing, irrigation, electricity) at a total investment cost of 4.6 billion pounds in Alexandria Governorate during the fiscal year (2022/21).

Implementation of projects in Alexandria Governorate

The report stated that a number of projects have been implemented in Alexandria Governorate, including the completion of the implementation of the project to rehabilitate Al-Fangary Canal and the Karnak Guide to provide irrigation water, and the implementation of civil works for the emergency lift station of Al-Amriya Bank, in line with the second sustainable development goal, “eliminating hunger.”

Quality education

With regard to the fourth goal, “quality education,” 36 projects have been implemented in the pre-university education sector, in addition to the establishment, replacement and expansion of 628 classrooms.

Alexandria port development

With regard to the eleventh goal, “sustainable cities and communities,” the report stated that 17 projects have been implemented to develop the port of Alexandria and Dekheila, expand the Al-Kafouri Bridge, and construct a bridge at the intersection of the sea arm with the coastal road.

13 projects

In addition to the completion of 13 projects for paving and developing local roads, which resulted in paving and developing roads with a length of 68 km, replacing and renewing the Corniche wall with a length of 16 km, and raising the efficiency of Mahatat Misr Square.

Climate Action

With regard to the thirteenth goal, “Climate Action”, 28 projects have been completed within the environmental improvement program, 8 projects for afforestation and beautification of neighborhoods, development and purification of Lake Mariout with a length of 33.5 km.

A decent life

Regarding the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside “a decent life” in Alexandria Governorate, it was completed during the year (2021/2022), with the implementation of 173 classrooms, 10 schools, 8 mobile network towers, Connecting the optical fiber network to 2 villages, constructing 2 police stations, a government services complex, connecting the natural gas network to 5 villages.

Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, confirmed that the ministry attaches special importance to activating community participation, transparency and accountability, by moving from the “citizen’s plan” to “citizen follow-up”, to spread awareness among citizens of the achievements made by the state.

It is noteworthy that the citizen’s investment plan in Alexandria governorate aims to implement 401 projects, with an allocation value of 44.9 billion pounds, in the 2023/22 plan, with a growth rate of 72.7% compared to the 2022/21 plan, in addition to the projects directed through the Egyptian Rural Development Project “Hayat”. generous.”
