The first conference of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work was launched, in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as the National Alliance is an important pillar in the development process in the country, and a supporter of the social protection network system.

The conference reviewed luminous examples of Egyptians who benefited from the various programs of the coalition, what it achieved during 2022 and its targets in 2023, as the coalition aims to strengthen the umbrella of social protection and contribute to the country's comprehensive development plan.

During the presence of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi at the first conference of the National Alliance for Civil and Development Action, he praised the "plant" initiative and its efforts to increase agricultural areas and the productivity of acres.

President El-Sisi said that we cultivate about 350,000 acres of cane in Upper Egypt, and we hope that there will be greater productivity and abundance of water, especially since agriculture by modern means saves water.

  Addressing the farmers, he added: "Don't be independent with acres, and we need to cooperate with civil society in this field."

The goals of the plant initiative

1. It aims to cultivate an area of 150,000 acres of wheat crop by working with 100,000 farmers at the level of the labor governorates to initiate wheat in 8 governorates.

2. The initiative will operate in the governorates of Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Beheira, Dakahlia, Qalyubia and Fayoum.

3. The initiative aims to expand the agricultural area of the wheat crop in the targeted governorates, by providing high-quality and approved seeds through cooperation in implementing the initiative, in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture.

4. The initiative comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the National Coalition for Civil Action and the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services as a partner in the Coalition, and its capabilities to advance Egyptian farms.

5. It aims to achieve food security by providing strategic crops, especially wheat.

6. It is the first initiative of its kind that takes place in a participatory manner between a group of civil society institutions, the government, and agricultural cooperatives for the development of small farmers and the expansion of agricultural lands.

7. It was launched in popular celebrations attended by thousands of farmers benefiting from the initiative within the agricultural communities in all the participating governorates, where about 3 thousand farmers from Minya governorate and 1,500 farmers from Qalyubia governorate participated, in addition to the implementation of field schools in the rest of the initiative governorates.

8. The initiative will support farmers technically by applying good agricultural practices in the cultivation of wheat, which helps them increase their productivity and reduce production costs for the wheat crop.
