Today in Morocco.. Mohamed Salah competes for the best player in the continent award
Today, Monday, the Best in Africa ceremony will be held in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, where the best player, club, team, and technical director will be chosen, in addition to a number of other awards.
National team captain Mohamed Salah, the English Liverpool star, is competing with Nigerian Victor Osimhen, the Italian Napoli striker, and Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, the French Paris Saint-Germain player, for the best player award on the continent.
As for Al-Ahly Club, it is competing today for more than one award. It is a candidate for the title of best club, along with Moroccan Wydad and South Africa’s Sun Downs.
Mohamed El-Shenawy, captain of the Red Team, is also competing for the award for the best goalkeeper on the African continent, and Percy Tau, the Al-Ahly striker, is competing for the award for the best player on the continent.
The goal of Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba, the Al-Ahly player, against Al-Hilal of Sudan in the group stage of the African Champions League, competes for the title of best goal.
The Moroccan national team is competing for the best team award after reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup, competing with Senegal and Gambia.
As for the Algerian trio, Abdelhak Ben Sheikha, former coach of the Algerian Football Association, Moroccan Walid Regragui, coach of the Atlas Lions, and Senegalese Aliou Cisse, coach of his country’s national team, they are competing for the title of best coach on the continent.

For his part, Ivorian Didier Drogba re-published an old tweet of his on his official account, which belonged to the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, in which he congratulated the Liverpool player on winning the Best African Player award for the year 2017.
After re-publishing the tweet, Drogba commented on it: “I tweeted this six years ago, and the rest is history. Congratulations, my brother, on another achievement, 150 goals in the English Premier League.”
It is worth noting that Drogba played in many major European clubs, such as Chelsea, Marseille, and Galatasaray. He retired in the 2018/19 season while he was a player in the American club Phoenix Rising.
