The Saudi Scuba Military Industries Company signed, an agreement with Airbus to localize the civil and military helicopter industry in the Kingdom.

The agreement was announced on the sidelines of a Saudi-French investment forum held during a visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to France that began last week.

The CEO of the Saudi "Scuba" company for military industries, Fawaz Al-Aqeel, said in televised statements that the company signed an agreement with "Airbus" to localize the civil and military helicopter industry in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Aqeel stated that the first helicopters produced in the joint "Scuba" and "Airbus" factories in Saudi Arabia will be displayed after two years at the International Defense Exhibition, which he said will lay the "cornerstone" of the project.

The CEO of the Saudi "Scuba" company for military industries stated that his company expects to manufacture more than 100 helicopters and create 8,500 job opportunities in Saudi Arabia, and that it expects investments of more than 25 billion riyals ($6.67 billion) over 20 years.

The "Scuba" company for military industries previously joined the list of partners of the International Defense Exhibition 2024 last February, and the company became a major partner in the exhibition after signing the agreement between it and the International Defense Exhibition.

 Manpower strategy for the military industries sector

In February 2022, Saudi Arabia announced its manpower strategy for the military industries sector.

According to the statements of the Governor of the Public Authority for Military Industries, Ahmed Al-Ohali, at the time, “The strategy came with the aim of enabling and building a stimulating system for the development, development and empowerment of human cadres.

Three main programmes

  The strategy was based on the localization of industries and research in the military sector to ensure the readiness and sustainability of the qualified manpower to achieve the objectives of the localization of the sector through the development of three main programs represented in educational and training programs, policy and empowerment programmes, in addition to guidance and counseling programs that were developed with the Authority's partners from the relevant authorities.

This is in order to achieve the requirements of comprehensive development in a way that contributes to refining the necessary knowledge and capabilities in fields and specializations related to the military, defense and security industries.

"Scuba" company

The "Scuba" company for military industries joined the list of partners of the "Global Defense Exhibition 2024", after the two parties signed an agreement under which "Scuba" would become the main partner of the exhibition.

It is noteworthy that the “Global Defense Exhibition” is a global platform that attracts government agencies in the Kingdom and major local and international companies working in the fields of the defense industry, to draw features of the future of defense through many programs and events that last for 5 days in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

It should be noted that the Saudi Council of Ministers - chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - announced last February its agreement to grant new incentives and sign agreements to localize goods and services that are priority for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within the framework of the Vision 2030 strategy.
