The South China Morning Post reported that Hong Kong Airlines has issued 9,800 airline tickets for free distribution to Hong Kong residents as part of a government campaign to encourage outbound tourism.

As users rushed to book their free tickets, the company's website temporarily crashed, and when it recovered, many users said they were repeatedly kicked out of the online queue.

A total of 80,000 free air tickets are to be distributed among domestic air carriers, such as Hong Kong Express, Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Airlines.
