The Saudi film " mandub allayl ", directed by Ali Al-Kalthami, topped the box office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in its first week of showing there, earning 5.95 million riyals (1.58 million US dollars) for 114.3 thousand tickets sold, according to data from the Audiovisual Media Commission.
“mandub allayl” achieved the highest opening for a Saudi film, and the second best opening for an Arab film since the opening of cinemas in Saudi Arabia, after “bihabk” by Tamer Hosni.
It was followed by the movie WonKa, directed by Paul King, which came in second place in its first week, achieving 2.34 million riyals ($626,000) for 39.2 thousand tickets, and the same thing with the movie The Boy and the Heron, which ranked third, in its first week. There, he achieved 739 thousand riyals ($197 thousand) for 14.7 thousand tickets.
Competing for the top spot at the box office in the Kingdom are 23 diverse Arab and foreign films, which achieved revenues amounting to 12.2 million Saudi riyals ($3.2 million), for more than 230,000 tickets sold, over the past week.
