The Jordanian Minister of Investment, Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, said that the government has completed the legislative framework to review the investment strategy in the country, with the launch of a special platform called "Invest" to help Jordanians wishing to invest abroad.

During her participation yesterday, Saturday, in the eighth conference of Jordanian businessmen and investors abroad held in the capital, Amman, Al-Saqqaf said that the platform includes 21 investment opportunities worth one billion dinars ($1.41 billion).

Important sectors

The Jordanian minister listed the most important sectors that can be invested in, which are tourism, medical tourism, medicines and fertilizers, according to what was published by the Arab World News Agency.

She added: "What distinguishes these investment opportunities is the existence of an initial economic feasibility commensurate with the requirements of the stage, and the amounts are distributed from 100 thousand dinars to 400 million dinars. Therefore, each investor according to his ability and according to his knowledge, and there are also priority sectors that we are interested in promoting and this will help attract investments."

During the conference, the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Adel Sharkas, said that interest rates, which were raised 11 times, had an impact on the economy. Sharkas expected that global interest rates would begin to decline during the second quarter of 2024.

It is noteworthy that there are approximately two million Jordanian expatriates, according to the 2022 statistics, and they are distributed in about 70 countries in various proportions, including 75% in the Gulf countries.

The total value of Jordanians' remittances abroad in 2021 amounted to about $2.17 billion, or 1.5% of GDP.

The electronic platform “Invest in Jordan” will also include an interactive investment map that includes sectors and investment opportunities offered in all regions and governorates of the Kingdom, and the investor will be able to know basic information related to the opportunity he wishes to invest in.

It is noteworthy that the "Invest in Jordan" platform took place in cooperation with the (USAID) Economic Reform Program, which aims to support the Kingdom's efforts in comprehensive and sustainable reform processes by working on developing and reforming policies and facilitating investments in addition to enhancing the competitiveness of the economic environment.
