Housing: We implemented 2.8 million housing units in the last 10 years

Engineer Amr Khattab, spokesman for the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, confirmed that the Egyptian state is witnessing a major boom regarding the file of new cities, especially in light of the National Urban Development Strategy and the Egyptian urban development plans until 2050.

Amr Khattab said, during his interview with journalist Amr Khalil, on the “Min Misr” program broadcast on CBC: “We doubled the populated area and reached the populated area from 6% to 14% of Egypt’s area.”

He revealed that the state was able to produce 2.8 million housing units in the last 10 years, and stated that Egypt increases about 2 million people every year, and this means that we need 30 new cities to get out of the narrow valley, and Egypt’s plan for the last 9 years emphasized the need for new horizontal urban expansion to accommodate the increase. Population, and this was supported by a network of roads and facilities to accommodate this increase.

He continued: "In the last 9 years, 14 new cities have been established, and today we have reached 43 new cities with existing construction at all levels."

Beit Al Watan

On another hand, Reservation of Beit Al Watan lands allocated to Egyptians working abroad has begun in 14 cities through the website designated for reservation, according to Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities.

Reservations will begin on the website of the “Beit Al Watan” project for Egyptians abroad, for 2,530 plots of land that will be offered in distinct locations in 14 new cities in the ninth phase of the “Beit Al Watan” project for Egyptians abroad.

The Minister of Housing added that the ninth phase includes 2,530 plots of land in distinct locations in 14 new cities (New Cairo - October 6 - Sheikh Zayed - 10th of Ramadan - Sadat - May 15 - New Damietta - Shorouk - New Obour - New October - Capital Gardens - New Minya - New Qena - New Aswan).

Al-Jazzar explained that transfers will be received starting, Tuesday 9/5/2023, for a period of 3 weeks, provided that the bank transfer includes the reservation code, and any transfers received before this date will be transferred to be recorded within the transfers of the fifth day of transfers, indicating that the brochure The conditions and locations proposed during this stage will be available on the website for those wishing to book.

According to a statement, the application and reservation are being made in coordination with the Central Bank of Egypt and the Ministry of Communications, as part of the state’s efforts to provide residential lands for its children working abroad, meet their desire to own their own housing, and connect them to their motherland.

24 new cities

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had said that despite all the great challenges over the past ten years, the Egyptian state has a great chance of overcoming them thanks to the efforts made by the state.

The President stressed that Egypt is capable of overcoming all the challenges it faces, adding that our appreciation of the situation of population increase prompted us to establish 24 new cities.
