April 15.. Beginning of work with the electronic receipt system
Electronic receipt system is a natural extension of the electronic invoice system to cover all types and forms of electronic transactions from all parties.
The Tax Authority is working to facilitate taxpayers and provide them with full technical support to join the electronic receipt system.
The fourth stage, “the first sub-stage”, of the electronic receipt system, will start to be implemented as of April 15, 2023. The total number of receipts sent on the system so far has reached 83 million.

Reda Abdel Qader, Assistant Minister of Finance for Tax Authority Affairs, said that the electronic receipt system is a natural extension of the electronic invoice system to cover all types and forms of electronic transactions from all parties.
Pointing out that the electronic receipt system aims to contribute to:
1- Integrating the informal economy into the formal economy
2- Creating an accurate database that can be relied upon later in applying data analysis and decision-making support systems
3- Achieving the principle of equal opportunity among financiers in the Egyptian market
4- Receiving dues from the state's public treasury.
Egyptian Tax Authority
Mukhtar Tawfiq, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, indicated that the authority provides full support to taxpayers who are required to join the electronic receipt system.
Tawfiq added that the Tax Authority is holding several workshops on the electronic receipt system, for taxpayers who are bound by the system to introduce how to technically integrate with it and provide the necessary technical support.
Tawfiq demanded, the financiers of the fourth stage (the first sub-stage), of the delivery system, the necessity of committing to joining the system, so as not to fall under legal penalties.

The head of the Egyptian Tax Authority added that the electronic receipt system is based on establishing an electronic central system that enables the tax authority to follow up all commercial transactions for the sale of goods, and verify their validity, through electronic integration with the sales devices of merchants and service providers through sales movement control devices (POS).
