Food industry exports occupy the first nine positions in the world
Egypt ranked the fourth place in the world in the export of oilseeds and fruits, and the fifth place in the world in the export of freshwater lobster.
The Export Council for Food Industries confirmed that the Egyptian food industries sector has succeeded in 2022 in occupying the first nine global positions in exporting 13 manufactured food commodities.
According to data from the United Nations World Trade Center UN-ITC, Egypt's exports of processed food amounted to $4.1 billion in 2022, or 13% of Egypt's total non-oil exports.
First in the world
Egypt ranked first in the world in exporting frozen strawberries, first in the world in exporting baking powder, and fourth in the world in exporting dried onions.

These results come as a result of the efforts of Egyptian processed food exporters and producers and the support of the political leadership for the export file and export development.
The country is witnessing in terms of infrastructure development and agricultural investment projects in order to achieve Egyptian food security and achieve a surplus for export at a global level that the whole world is witnessing.
It also confirms the producer and exporter's confidence in the Egyptian economy and its ability to grow and compete globally, and enhances the world's confidence in Egyptian products.
Natural gas
The value of Egypt's natural gas exports declined in the first quarter of 2023, by 33.44%, to $1.757 billion, compared to $2.640 billion in the same period of 2022.
On the other side, the value of Egypt's gas imports, including liquefied natural gas, for the first quarter of this year increased by 59.6%, to reach $630.3 million, compared to $394.8 million during the same period in 2022.
A senior official at the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum, who asked not to be named, attributed the decline in the value of natural gas exports to the drop in liquefied gas prices to between $9 and $11 per million BTU, compared to between $25 and $35 in the previous period.
Egypt is working to become a major energy center in the region through gas liquefaction and re-export. The country's current total production ranges between 6.5 and 7 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Shoes and leather products sector
Regarding the price movements in the shoes and leather products sector, the head of the division pointed to the increase in prices in the shoes and leather products sector during the previous period.
The percentage of increases in the prices of shoes and leather products ranges from 3% to 5% and in limited items, not all items.
