Luxor.. The first directorate to use clean solar energy
In the first step after the end of the conference on November 18, the Ministry of Social Solidarity announced the use of solar energy by the Directorate of Social Solidarity in Luxor Governorate to manage the directorate's buildings.
In 2022, Egypt officially assumed the presidency of the United Nations Climate Conference COP 27, and Sharm El-Sheikh resort witnessed a summit of world leaders last month with the participation of delegations from more than 190 countries and representatives of regional and international organizations concerned with environmental and climate affairs.
Today, in the first step after the end of the conference on November 18, the Ministry of Social Solidarity announced the use of solar energy by the Directorate of Social Solidarity in Luxor Governorate to manage the directorate's buildings.
Solar energy
In a step aimed at implementing the recommendations of the Climate Conference (COP 27), clean solar energy is used to manage all electrical work within the directorate, thus, the Directorate of Social Solidarity in Luxor will be the first directorate to use clean, environmentally friendly energy.
Mr. Mohamed Hussein Baghdadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry and Director of the Social Solidarity Directorate in Luxor, inspected the solar cell units and auxiliary devices for the operation of alternative energy, which were installed through fruitful cooperation with the financial institution “EFG Hermes”.
This came within the framework of the cooperation protocol between the Ministry and the Corporation, as the solar power plant entered into operation and supplies the Directorate building consisting of 14 technical departments across three floors with all its needs of clean energy for lighting works, operating computers and air coolers.
The interest of the Egyptian state in climate issues
Baghdadi praised the experience, which comes within the framework of the Egyptian state's interest in climate issues towards a clean environment, as it provides the necessary clean energy for the directorate, explaining that next year will witness the management of 5 social departments at the level of Luxor out of a total of 7 departments using clean solar energy, as solar energy stations are installed including It saves the cost of electricity bills for a long time.

It is worth noting that within the framework of the cooperation protocol concluded between the Ministry and the financial institution "FG Hermes", the following were established:
1- 94 houses in the village of "Al-Deir" in Esna, Luxor.
2- 64 houses are being built in the same village, and a nursery for young scientists is being built according to the latest international standards in the same village.
3- Establishing clean solar energy for 25 schools belonging to the Ministry of Education in Luxor.
