Engineer Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the strategic ministerial session within the activities of the Gastec 2023 conference in Singapore>

During which a number of petroleum and energy ministers discussed the role of natural gas and liquefied gas in enabling the global energy industry to meet the short-term requirements for low-carbon energy. The session included Ekberiki Eko, Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum and Gas Resources, Babak Ariadji, Indonesian Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Joseph McMonigle, Secretary-General of the Energy Forum. International.

  Natural gas projects

Al-Mulla confirmed during the session that there is currently a spread and acceleration in natural gas and liquefied gas activities and projects in light of a global consensus that natural gas is the best fuel during the transitional phase of the complete energy transformation.

He pointed out that Egypt is building on the momentum created by the COP27 climate conference, which was held in Sharm El-Sheikh in November 2022, and that to achieve the desired goals, there is a need for continuity and sustainability in pumping investments and supporting ways of cooperation and integration between countries.

Economic and geopolitical climate

Engineer Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met on the sidelines of the conference with Boris Johnson, former British Prime Minister, and a number of heads of international oil and gas companies.

Johnson stressed that the challenges facing the current economic and geopolitical climate make it imperative for governments to deal with the challenges of climate change on the one hand and meet the increasing demand for energy on the other hand.

He pointed out that the coming winter will witness high inflation rates and uncertainty around energy prices, which requires concerted efforts, cooperation and integration towards a better future for all.

  GasTech Conference

The GasTech Conference is one of the largest international conferences held annually in the field of natural gas. It discusses the most important issues and modern technologies in the field of natural gas, liquefied gas, hydrogen, and reducing carbon emissions. More than 40,000 participants participate in its activities.

During the session of heads and leaders of the energy sector, the heads and officials of ExxonMobil, Eni, Shell, Chevron and Vitol discussed the conditions and dynamics of the global liquefied gas markets and their ability to meet the global needs of the energy system in the future.

They pointed out that Europe's changing energy requirements are an indicator of increasing global supply quantities until the middle of the current decade, which results in significant competitive levels in light of increasing Asian demand.
