448 discovered.. Pushing the wheel of investment in the search for petroleum and making new discoveries
Petroleum sector

The petroleum sector succeeded in driving investment in the search for petroleum and gas and making new discoveries, and implementing a number of important projects which in turn led to a major boom in the field of petroleum exploration and exploitation in Egypt and in light of the state's keenness to expand the area of exploration in Egypt.

The efforts of research, exploration and production contributed to the increase in production rates from the petroleum wealth, a turbulent increase, as Egypt's production of natural gas rose to reach the production capacity of the gas sector to about 7 billion cubic feet per day; which made it possible for the country to achieve self-sufficiency in gas and resumption of exports.

Increasing the value of natural gas exports

In addition to meeting the needs of the local market with 652 million tons of petroleum and gas products, 285 million tons of petroleum products, 367 million tons of natural gas).

An increase in the value of natural and liquefied gas exports in 2022, by a 154% increase compared to 2021, to reach $9.9 billion in 2022 versus $3.9 billion in 2021, due to the restart of the gas liquefaction plant in Damietta and the resumption of export of liquefied gas from it after an 8-year hiatus.

Launch of the portal for marketing and promotion

The portal was launched for the marketing and promotion of the research and exploration areas globally, and provides the digital infrastructure and advanced electronic applications to maintain the geological and geophysical data, the project data and the facilities available in the research and exploration and development areas and the bidding areas through a national information bank to contribute to encouraging and attracting new investments and the promotion of the research and exploration areas.

Signing 120 agreements, the number of petroleum agreements issued by laws with a minimum investment of 22.3 billion dollars to drill a minimum number of wells reached 452 wells during the period (July) 2014 - June (2023).

Exploration of 448 discoveries added reserves of 511.2 million barrels of oil and condensates in addition to about 40.17 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Two new gas stations
