$430 million... Huawei investments to enhance digital transformation in Africa
In its eighth edition this year, the Huawei Connect conference highlighted artificial intelligence (AI), which represents a top priority for Huawei’s ambitions, especially with its main focus on the African continent.
Thierry Heye, President of Huawei North, West and Central Africa, announced an investment plan for the North Africa region, which includes 28 countries located north of the Equator, with a total investment of $430 million, over five years.
He added in a press statement that the plan includes allocating $200 million of it to establish the first public cloud center in the region, which provides more than 200 cloud services, in addition to allocating $200 million to support 200 local software partners, and empowering 1,300 distribution partners.
He pointed out that Huawei is also investing $30 million to stimulate smart transformation in the region, by training 10,000 local developers and training 100,000 digital specialists.

He noted that Huawei's strategy towards the African continent aims to guide Africa towards a smart and connected future, relying on the young population majority, as 60% of the population is 25 years old or younger, which makes digital transformation a major catalyst for growth in African countries, in addition to... Africa has huge green energy potential.
Thierry Heye stressed the importance of cooperation between governments, companies, educational institutions and communities to achieve smart development ambitions in Africa.

Huawei is building its new strategy towards the digital future of the African continent by relying on the young population majority, as 60% of the population is 25 years old or younger, which makes digital transformation a major catalyst for growth in African countries, in addition to Africa being distinguished by its enormous potential for green energy.
Relying on these capabilities, Huawei is keen in its strategy to integrate smart technologies, especially artificial intelligence, into vital sectors affecting the daily lives of African countries, including health, education, transportation, agriculture, mining, and finance.

Huawei's strategy towards the digital development of the African continent is based on three main axes, which are accelerating intelligence to enhance digital inclusion, improving the quality of life, and improving the quality of basic services, in addition to strengthening government administration, thus improving the attractiveness of the business environment, and improving operational efficiency and productivity at the economic level. Especially in Africa's main industry sectors.
