3 types.. Egypt and Norway cooperate to establish a green hydrogen station

Many people do not know what green hydrogen is, but it is considered the most promising clean energy source and it is called the "fuel of the future".

To further clarify, hydrogen is manufactured in more than one way, and one of the methods is the electrolysis of water, through the use of a converter to separate hydrogen from oxygen to obtain hydrogen only.

It must be clarified that the electrical transformer needs energy to operate, and this energy used is what determines the name of hydrogen, whether "green or otherwise".

·   Types of hydrogen

1- If clean energy such as the sun and wind is used, the hydrogen produced is called green hydrogen.

2- If conventional energy is used that results in pollution and is able to “store emissions and prevent their spread,” it is called black hydrogen.

3- If coal is used as a polluting energy source, it is called hydrogen produced with black or gray hydrogen.

It can be said that green hydrogen technology is still in its infancy, with limited spread and high cost, as was the case for the beginnings of solar energy technology.

·    Green hydrogen production plant

Given the importance of green hydrogen that does not pollute the environment and does not have a harmful effect on the climate, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced the launch of the first phase of the project to establish a plant to produce green hydrogen in cooperation with Norway, with a capacity of 100 megawatts in the Ain Sukhna area.

He added, during a table on investing in the future of energy, as part of the COP27 climate summit, that this project is a practical model for an investment partnership that stimulates sustainable economic development.

He pointed to the reliance on the role of governments and the national and foreign private sector for joint work in this fruitful sector, stressing that the opportunity is available today to learn about all aspects of the project through the companies implementing it.

·     Clean energy production

He explained that Egypt was one of the first countries that realized the opportunity available in the field of green hydrogen, based on the huge capabilities in the production of clean energy.

He stated that these capabilities enable Egypt to transform into a global center for green hydrogen production in the medium and long term.

Egypt assumed the presidency of the Climate Summit from the United Kingdom, while the activities will continue until November 18.

The inaugural session of the summit was held at the presidential level, and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi gave a speech in which he outlined the features of the road map towards a better future for the peoples of the world and humanity, especially with regard to ways and mechanisms for implementing previous slogans and pledges into real, realistic and tangible solutions and commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
