The current events and the global energy situation have demonstrated the importance of the proactive step taken by establishing the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum. The forum presented an important initiative and study in the field of reducing emissions and removing carbon from the gas industry COP27, and it also provided an important aspect of the global energy supply during the current period, which is witnessing many challenges.

Egyptian-Cypriot cooperation in the field of energy

In this regard, the Cypriot Minister of Energy and Industry, Natasha Pilides, announced that the Egyptian-Cypriot cooperation is being carried out to the fullest, and that there is interest in the energy file from the political leaders of the two countries.

  Natasha Pilides confirmed, during the press conference of the eighth meeting of the ministers of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum, that it is planned to deliver Cypriot gas to Egypt during the year 2027, from the production of the Aphrodite field.

She added that the linking process between Egypt and Cyprus will take place during the year 2025, after offering the bidding for the project during the first months of next year 2023.

Egyptian-American cooperation in the fields of oil and gas

On the other hand, Engineer Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received on the sidelines of the eighth ministerial meeting of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum in Cairo, the delegation of the US Department of Energy participating in the meeting, which included Bradford John Crabtree, Assistant Secretary of Energy for Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, Josh Falls, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy for Europe, Eurasia and Africa. And the Middle East and a number of officials of the US Department of Energy, and in the presence of Ambassador Daniel Rubinstein, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Ambassador to Cairo.

  The Minister of Petroleum discussed ways of Egyptian-American cooperation in the fields of oil and gas and benefiting from American technologies and expertise in the field of reducing emissions and removing carbon from the oil and gas industry, especially in light of Egypt's accession to global initiatives in this regard, as well as ways to enhance American investments to search for oil and gas and produce them in the regions  promising in Egypt.

Emission reduction and carbon removal

During the meeting, Eng, Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum, affirmed that Egypt attaches great importance to joint cooperation with the United States in the field of reducing emissions and carbon removal, and seeks to benefit from modern technologies and American expertise in supporting Egyptian oil efforts in this regard, especially since the petroleum sector has already prepared initiatives and projects that can be implemented. In the field of reducing emissions and has the necessary cadres and skills to achieve it on the ground.
