The value of trade between Egypt and Palestine witnessed an increase of $200 million during the 5 months of 2023 compared to $178.3 million during the same period of 2022, an increase of 12.2%.
According to the report of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, the value of Egyptian exports to Palestine increased to $200 million during the year. The first 5 months of 2023 compared to $177.9 million during the same period of 2022, an increase of 12.4%.
The report revealed the top ten commodity groups that Egypt exported to Palestine during the 5 months of this year. The commodities included sugar and sugar products at a value of $23.6 million, vegetables at a value of $15.8 million, and iron and steel at a value of $15.6 million.
The report also revealed that Egypt exported live animals to Palestine at a value of $15.2 million, salt and sulfur at a value of $14.4 million, milk and dairy products at a value of $13 million, and mill products at a value of $12.2 million.
Egypt's exports to Palestine amounted to $9.8 million in products based on grains, flour or starch, $9.6 million in vegetables and plants, and $6.9 million in animal and vegetable fats and oils.
Egyptian exports
On the other hand, Yehia Al-Wathiq Billah, Head of the Commercial Representation Authority at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, confirmed that Egypt achieved $35.2 billion in commercial exports in 2022, indicating that we aim to develop the industrial sector to reach $100 billion in Egyptian exports.
Foreign investments
He explained that The Commercial Representation Authority is the diplomatic wing that performs governmental and non-governmental tasks. One of its most important tasks is attracting foreign investments, promoting Egyptian economic zones, increasing the volume of Egyptian exports, and opening new markets.
The head of the Commercial Representation Authority at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry continued that we have 43 offices in different countries, stressing that there are many new markets that have been opened in neighboring countries that the source did not know about, such as Kazakhstan and other new markets.
Egypt's fuel exports
In related context, the value of Egypt's fuel exports declined during the first 5 months of 2023 to about $3.89 billion, compared to $8.27 billion during the same period in 2022, with a decrease rate of 47%, or $4.37 billion.
According to the statistics of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, crude oil exports amounted to about $748 million, compared to $1.62 billion during the same comparison period, with a decline rate of 45.9%, equivalent to $879 million.
Regarding petroleum product exports, they amounted to about $658 million in the period from January to May 2023, compared to $1.46 billion in January/May 2022, a decrease of 45%, equivalent to $803 million.
Gas exports recorded 2.27 billion dollars compared to 4.76 billion dinars during the same comparison period, with a rate of change of 47.6%, or about 2.49 billion dollars.
