Transformation of climate systems for the amount of 1.5 million euros
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued Resolution No. 298 of 2022, approving the simplified grant agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt, represented by the Ministry of International Cooperation, and the French Development Agency, for a project to transform climate systems in the amount of 1.5 million euros, signed in Cairo on March 28, 2022.
In light of Egypt's keenness on climate agreements, Dr. Shaker Abu Al-Maati, professor of agricultural climate, said that what the 100 million trees initiative is bringing about is a new glimmer of hope for the climate, especially after the climate changes that occurred due to encroachment on agricultural lands in previous periods.
Planting 100 million trees
Abu Al-Maati added that when the initiative's goal of planting 100 million trees is achieved, this means adding more than a million and a half acres of agricultural land across the country.
He added that this is what will restore the climate to its splendor, and as for pollution and rising emissions in the atmosphere, there will be enough plants to attract them and get rid of them, which will reduce chest diseases that affect citizens, such as asthma and other diseases.
He added that the initiative develops among school and university students awareness of preserving the environment, and their association with trees and greenery.
The professor of agricultural climate said that the impact of planting these trees on the psyche of citizens will be positive, and thus a better work environment and better production: "When a citizen walks in a quiet place surrounded by trees and greenery, he will certainly make his psyche better."
Technological solutions
Experts had stressed the necessity of considering sustainable development and resorting to technological solutions as one of the means to reduce emissions, preserve the environment, achieve the goals of the climate summit, and prepare for the new summit scheduled to be held in the UAE in 2023.
Dr. Muhannad Al-Sheikh, an expert in the field of technology, confirmed that achieving the goals of the Climate Summit, which ended its work in Sharm El-Sheikh last November, by emphasizing international development efforts towards reducing emissions, will require cooperation between all sectors.
