India again banned many Chinese applications, and despite the economic differences between them, the total volume of trade exchange between China and India has increased.

The volume of trade exchange between China and India, 2021-2022, increased by 34% annually, to $115.83 billion last year.


India has banned 232 online applications

India ordered the blocking of 232 new applications and websites on February 7, 2023, most of which are related to China, in reference to political tensions between the two countries, after years of a deadly border skirmish and 20 deaths from India in clashes in mid-2020.

Protecting India's national security
India's Federal Ministry of Technology ordered the removal of 138  apps and 94 credit services, as a result of suspected illegal apps transferring data to China, a move aimed at protecting India's national security, according to what was reported by Bloomberg, on February 7, 2023.


Turn off digital applications
India has banned hundreds of services backed by Chinese companies, including Tencent's WeChat app and ByteDance's TikTok, amid strained relations between the two countries.


It has banned dozens of lending applications and other services linked to China, including the Chinese digital payment application LazyPay, which led to the rise of shares of the Indian payments company Paytm competitor in the Indian market.

Pubg and Alipay banned in 2020
The Indian bans of Chinese applications are in addition to what happened in 2020, when in September 2020 India began banning 118 digital applications involved in activities affecting the sovereignty, integrity and defense of India, including the mobile version of the famous game PUBG.

In addition, India has banned Chinese search giant Baidu and mobile payment application Alipay, from the famous Alibaba subsidiary, Ant Group.  According to “CNN Arabia”, on September 3, 2020, PUBG incurred $ 15 million in losses, due to ban measures through Google Play and App Store applications during that year.
