Surprise.. Discover new natural gas field East Damanhur
The German “Wintershall Dea” announced that it had found gas in the exploration area in eastern Damanhur, in partnership with the “Gas Holding” Company and “Kyron Energy”.
In a new step that may generate a lot of money for the Egyptians, a new natural gas field was discovered east of Damanhour.
The German “Wintershall Dea” announced that it had found gas in the exploration area in eastern Damanhur, in partnership with the “Gas Holding” Company and “Kyron Energy”.
Discovery of a gas field
The company confirmed that the parties in charge of exploration in this area will work on evaluating the discovery to serve as a link line with the nearby infrastructure in the city of Disouq, near Kafr El-Sheikh in the gas-filled Delta of Egypt, and it is being explored by several companies there.
“Wintershall Dea”, a German company, said that the companies involved in exploration include “Wintershall Dea” with 40%, “Kyron Energy” with 40%, “INA” with 20%, and the Egyptian Natural Gas “Holding Company – EGAS”.
“This discovery is a new success in one of our main exploration areas, and thanks to the proximity of the East Damanhur region to the production infrastructure, it will be the rapid development of commercial discoveries and the provision of additional gas resources,” said George Presser, responsible for global exploration at “Wintershall Dea”.
Positive indicator
Sameh Sabry, General Manager of Wintershall Dea Egypt, said: We are looking forward to growth in Egypt, and the new discovery is a positive indicator in this regard, and at a time when the need for additional energy resources increases in both Egypt, regional countries and the world, and we are doing our best to provide more new quantities, from these resources.
It is noteworthy that “Wintershall Dea” began drilling in eastern Damanhur in November 2021, and the new discovery is the second exploration well in this license, and the well ED-2X is located about three kilometers north of the current Disouq field.
The well intercepted a 43-meter-thick gas reservoir, where the gas touches the water surface at an altitude of 2,627 meters. A comprehensive and appropriate program was implemented in order to obtain the data for the well. The amount of production from this discovery was also tested, reaching at its peak 15 million standard cubic feet per day.
