“New agreements”.. Taxation rules and conditions between Egypt and Qatar
Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar witnessed signing an agreement between the governments of Egypt and Qatar.
The agreement in the field of eliminating double taxation in income tax, And the prevention of tax evasion or avoidance.
This agreement in the light of the desire of the two countries to develop economic relations and enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, including the tax field.
Develop economic
It’s way that contributes to achieving tax justice, equal opportunities for investors, and overcoming any obstacles they may face, in an effort by Egypt and Qatar to develop economic and trade relations between them in order to develop joint investments.
This agreement is consistent with the efforts of the Egyptian government aimed at creating a business environment that is more stimulating for investments and attracting the local and foreign private sector.
The agreement included detailed provisions for the controls and conditions for taxation by both countries, to prevent double taxation.
This is regard to taxes on:
1- Income taxes
2- Immovable funds
3- Business profits
4- International sea and air transport activities
5- Joint projects
6- Stock dividends, interest
7- capital gains
8- Independent and non-independent personal services.
The agreement specified the necessary rules to ensure non-double taxation and to prevent tax evasion. Emphasizing that the competent authority in both countries fully coordinates to achieve the objectives of the agreement
Including the exchange of information necessary to implement the provisions of this agreement.
3 cooperation agreements
In other hand, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, witnessed the signing of 3 cooperation agreements in the field of health between the Ministry of Health and its Qatari counterpart.
Madbouly held a meeting with representatives of the Qatari Businessmen Association and the Qatari Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss opportunities to increase Qatari investments in Egypt and double the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
Dr. Khaled Abdel-Afar, Minister of Health, said during his speech that Egypt is self-sufficient in medicines, and that it manufactures more than 90% of its medicine needs locally.
