The Ministry of Health and Population announced the first form for organ donation after death, officially issued by it, as the Ministry documents it and delivers the donor a valid donation card in any hospital.

The first organ donation model

The text of the organ donation form came as follows: “I, an Egyptian national, recommend that I donate, after my death, my body’s organs and tissues, and any part of them that can be transplanted in the future, according to scientific progress, to preserve the life of an Egyptian person, treat him from a serious disease, or complete a vital deficiency in his body. This is a free and informed will that is not tainted by error or fraud, and I acknowledge that it is not permissible for my heirs to obtain any benefit or claim any financial or in-kind consideration as a result of the implementation of this will.

The importance of organ donation

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, said that "it is necessary to educate citizens about the importance of organ donation, and all countries of the world, including Islamic countries, as the rates of donation from the newly deceased to the living are approximately 90% of the total donation from the deceased to the living, while the donation from the living reaches For neighborhoods, about 10%".

Abdel Ghaffar added, “We are working to educate Egyptians about the importance of donation, especially after we obtained confirmation from the Al-Azhar Foundation and the Egyptian Church that legally authorizes organ donation.”

He pointed out that the law did not require documentation of organ donation after death in the Notary Public, but in an official manner recognized by the state, and therefore documentation can be done in the Notary Public or in those designated places through the Ministry of Health.

He explained that the forms of documenting all organ donations will be linked later to the network in parallel with the Egypt Center for Organ Transplantation located in Nasser Medical City, which the President directed to establish.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Health confirmed that the first organ donation form will be linked electronically to the national network for organ donation, which assures the donor of documenting his desire to donate organs after death, stressing that this form will be circulated in the coming period, and will be available in places that will be announced later by the Ministry. Health, to pour all this data into the Supreme Committee for Organ Transplantation through the National Network for Organ Transplantation.
