The Egyptian government granted an exemption to attend the World Cup in Qatar from entry visa fees to increase Egyptian tourist destinations, to take advantage of this event in promoting Egyptian tourism.

And the Egyptian government approved, at the end of last week, facilitating entry visas to Egypt for holders of the "Haya" fan card, who are attending the World Cup in Qatar during the period from November 20 to December 18.

International promotional campaign in 3 languages

In another step, Egypt launched an international promotional campaign in 3 languages ​​to attract World Cup fans to visit tourist destinations, while the cruise ship Splendida arrived in Sokhna port with 2,200 tourists on board.

The Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, affiliated to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, launched an international promotional campaign to promote the facilities provided to attract fans of the teams participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is currently being held in Qatar, and holders of the “Come on” fan card to visit the Egyptian tourist destination during and after attending the tournament. 

This campaign is directed in many languages, including English, Spanish and Portuguese, and uses the latest technological technologies used to direct advertising messages to the audience in the Gulf region to follow the championship matches using artificial intelligence technology, and offers 50% reduction for fan card holders on fees for visiting archaeological sites.

Increase the number of hotels

The number of hotels will also be increased in the cities of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Luxor and Aswan, with the aim of keeping pace with the government plan to attract 30 million tourists annually.

According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, 4.9 million tourists visited Egypt during the first half of 2022, compared to 2.6 million tourists during the same period last year, with a growth rate of 85.4%.

 The number of tourist nights spent by tourists reached 52.6 million tourist nights during the first half of 2022, compared to 32.3 million nights during the same period last year, with a growth rate of 63.6%.
