The most important information about the ship that broke down in the Suez Canal:
1- The ship is among the bulk ships, which is a commercial ship specially designed for the transport of unpackaged goods, such as grain, coal, ore and cement.
2- The ship is 225 meters long, 32 meters wide, and carries approximately 41,000 tons on board.
3- The ship “Glory” belongs to the shipping agency “Inchecape”.
4- The ship was on a voyage coming from Turkey and heading to China, and entered the Suez Canal as part of the northern convoy from the city of Port Said.
5- It suffered a malfunction in the engines, which caused it to stop completely in the navigational course of the canal.
6- The ship did not run aground, and the Suez Canal Authority pushed four tugboats to tow it to the Al-Balah area.
7- The navigation was stopped after the ship stopped, as there was no confusion, and the ship was towed to the Al-Balah area.
8- The ship will be deposited in one of the garages and the malfunction will be detected and repaired.
Ever given delinquency in 2021
In 2021, news spread about the huge container ship Ever Given, which got stuck in the Suez Canal on (March 23, 2021) after it deviated from its course, and closed one of the most important waterways in the world, causing massive traffic jams, And the accumulation of ships at the entrance to the canal, and maritime navigation and international trade through the canal were disrupted for 6 days.
The return trip after a 3-month detention
After the stranded ship was floated and the waterway was opened to the movement of ships, the Egyptian authorities detained the giant "Ever Given" ship for about 3 months, while trying to reach an agreement between the General Authority of the Suez Canal and the ship's owners, on compensation for the losses of stopping navigation and the cost of floating the ship.
An oil tanker ran aground in 2022
In 2022, the Egyptian authorities announced that a giant oil tanker had run aground in the Suez Canal before it was successfully floated, in an accident that disrupted navigation in the canal for 20 minutes and raised fears of a repeat of what happened early last year when this vital artery was stopped for several days.
