Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting this morning to follow up on a number of important files related to allocating land to investors and benefiting from white sand.

Industrial plots of land

The Prime Minister directed the preparation of a comprehensive inventory of the total plots of industrial land that were allocated in the last period, the position of each plot and the completion rates, and what was done regarding the lands that were allocated and the investor did not begin construction. He also directed that expansion plans for industrial lands be presented, especially in the Sadat Cities. , New October, Capital Gardens and others, stressing that the state has adopted many facilitations and incentives for industrial investors, but at the same time we will follow the position of each piece of land that has been allocated in order to ensure the speed of its development from the industrial investor who obtained it.

Industrial lands

The total amount of industrial land allocated by the committee that was formed some time ago was also reviewed with the aim of making it easier for industrial investors to obtain land. The committee’s membership includes officials from the ministries of (Trade and Industry, Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Local Development, and the General Investment Authority).

During the meeting, Dr. Walid Abbas reviewed the position of land allocation for urban, service and industrial activities in new cities, as he explained that the total number of applications reached about 2,235 applications.

Urban activities

He touched on the allocation requests for various urban and service activities, where he indicated that the total reserved plots of land amounted to 1,693 plots of land with an area estimated at about 8,639 acres. Regarding the allocation requests for industrial lands, he explained that the total reserved plots of land amounted to 344 plots of land with an area of 3,778 acres.

Proposed industrial areas

He reviewed the industrial areas in the new cities and explained that there are 21 cities that include existing industrial areas, 13 cities that include industrial areas under detailed planning and gentrification, and 3 cities that include proposed industrial areas.

In the same context, he touched on the cities that include existing industrial zones and explained that the total area of industrial zones is estimated at about 80,500 acres, with a total number of 129 industrial zones. As for the cities that include industrial zones under detailed planning and supervision, the total area of industrial zones is about 18,500 acres with a total of There are 16 industrial zones. As for the cities that include proposed industrial zones, their area is estimated at approximately 53,000 acres, with a total number of 5 industrial zones.

Egypt has the potential to make a major industrial shift, especially in the field of clean energy through the solar cell industry, in light of the world’s move towards clean energy projects and achieving large exports in this field.

He pointed out the expansion of the base of companies that include white sand as part of their production inputs, reaching in 2022 212 companies in the field of paints and coatings industry, 280 companies for the glass industry, 67 companies for the manufacture of solar energy panels, and 94 companies for mineral extraction.

$26.5 million

Egypt’s exports of white sand in 2021 amounted to about $26.5 million, compared to $33.4 million in 2020, which was exported in the form of raw sand, before the issuance of Prime Minister’s Decision No. 108 of 2022 banning the export of white sand in light of presidential directives to prepare a study. To exploit raw natural sand, remanufacture part of it, and preserve its local raw material until the necessary technology is available to exploit it.
