the Egyptian Space Agency witnesses the receipt of the electrical model and the mechanical and electrical model of the “EgyptSat 2” satellite from China, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Space Agency.
Egypt will launch the “MisrSat 2” satellite from China in the first quarter of next October, at a cost of $74 million.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Refai, Head of the Egyptian Satellite Program “MisrSat 2”, said that the new satellite is a quantum leap in the field of space technology.
It contributes to achieving the goals of sustainable development, and it was manufactured at a cost of $74 million as a grant from the Chinese side, pointing out that the satellite will be sent to China on June 28, in preparation for its launch in the first half of next October.
Receiving the electrical and mechanical model of the Egyptian satellite:
Al-Rafei added, On the sidelines of the signing of the contract for receiving the electrical and mechanical model of the Egyptian satellite, “EgyptSat 2”, In the presence of the Minister of International Cooperation, and Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, that the satellite “MisrSat 2” weighs 350 kilograms, It has high-resolution imaging capabilities of up to two meters above the ground in black and white, and 8 meters in color images, indicating that the satellite's life in space is 5 years from launch.

Satellite images
It is noteworthy that the (Misrsat2) project is a pioneering project for practical cooperation in space technology between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the People's Republic of China, and the “EgyptSat 2” satellite will contribute to providing images with a resolution of up to 2 meters, which can be used to maximize the utilization of the country's resources.
The satellite images will be used to determine the types of agricultural crops and their distribution in Egypt according to the nature of the soil, the atmosphere, and the urban planning, Follow-up changes to beaches, especially in the northern coasts of the country and the delta region, and track water sources and river paths, encroachment on state-owned lands, and others.
Space technology
The space agency confirmed that Egypt's possession of space technology is no longer a luxury, but has become a necessity to achieve the Egyptian state's goals of sustainable development and economic renaissance that the Egyptian state aspires to.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Space Agency is preparing to launch a group of experimental and operational satellites, on top of which is the “EgyptSat 2” satellite, which was developed through the strategic partnership between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the People's Republic of China.
It is being assembled and tested now, in the first trial operation of the Assembly, Integration and Testing Center at the headquarters of the Egyptian Space Agency, which is the largest of its kind in the Middle East, which represents a new achievement in the space and satellite industry in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
A cadre of Egyptian engineers trained in the latest technologies for assembling and testing satellites functionally and environmentally will be built. It will also enable the Egyptian state to localize the technology of assembling and testing satellites.
