The Turkish Minister of Environment, Murad Qorum, announced that the country was exposed to more than 200 tremors so far, as the consequences of the earthquake that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning.

He explained that Some aftershocks reached 6.7 on the Richter scale.

The Turkish Minister of Environment confirmed that the authorities in Turkey are conducting rescue operations in 1500 different points.

 Turkish disaster and emergency department monitored damage in 1710 buildings, in 10 cities, in the south of the country.

Natural disasters  effects on the economy

There is no doubt that natural disasters have significant effects on the economy, amid amazing human losses, and countries need years to recover from them.

Natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods and tropical hurricanes cause severe damage, and they seem to be more harmful to the economy than any other sectors.

Economic losses

 The earthquake center in Turkey has approached this time, from one of the main capitals and industry in the country, the city of Gaziantep, which is close to being the industrial capital of Turkey, due to thousands of factories located there.

Production stopped

According to official Turkish statements, production has stopped in Gaziantep, fear of derivation in the coming hours.

Also, the tourism sector in Turkey can be affected, within a short period of time, not exceeding a few weeks, until confidence is restored and the stability of economic life in the whole country.

Study stopped

Turkish Vice President Fouad Oqtai announced that schools and university housing were not damaged, while he announced the disruption of schools in 10 states for a week due to the earthquake.

He added that 102 mobile broadcast stations have been sent and operated for mobile phones to the areas affected by the earthquake.

Air movement stopped

He explained that the Hatay Airport was closed and the civil aviation movement was arrested in the states of Kahraman Marash and Antab.

He also pointed out that the concerned authorities stopped supplying several areas with natural gas due to the earthquake.
