National projects

He said during his speech at the National Projects and Infrastructure session, within the activities of the Story of a Homeland Conference “Between Vision and Achievement,” held in the New Administrative Capital, on Sunday evening, that the national project “A Decent Life” has a significant impact on increasing the rate of urbanization.

Eliminate slums

He pointed out that “eliminating slums and increasing the rate of urbanization has an economic impact on the state,” showing pictures of the tanneries area before and after development.

5-star hotel

He pointed to the contract with Hilton to establish a 5-star hotel with 200 rooms, in the same place that was a hotspot of pollution, saying that urban development projects not only have social impacts, but also have economic impacts that are being worked on well.

Maspero Triangle area

He stated that the Maspero Triangle area witnessed the construction of a 5-star hotel with 260 rooms, stressing that “urban development projects are primarily economic.”

He stated that the volume of lands sold in dollars during the period between 2020 and 2023 is equivalent to 6.5 billion pounds.

Social housing program

He explained that the largest share of the units went to the social housing program, as more than 630,000 housing units were completed in the program, and about 230,000 other units are being implemented, at a total cost of 193 billion pounds, while the axis was occupied by alternative housing units for residents of slum areas that It was developed, ranked second in the number of units, as 260 thousand housing units were completed, and about 5.4 thousand other units are being implemented, at a total cost of 67.9 billion pounds, while the rest of the units were distributed among medium housing projects (Sakan Misr - Dar Misr), And distinguished housing (Janna - villas), in order to meet the needs of all citizens in obtaining the housing unit suitable for them.

Regarding the ministry’s projects in existing urban areas, Al-Gazzar said that 279 residential projects have been and are being implemented, including 81,318 housing units and more than two thousand commercial stores, at a cost of about 19 billion pounds. Likewise, 478 road projects have been and are being implemented, with lengths of 5,820.5 km, at a cost of more than 62 billion pounds.

The Minister of Housing added that the Ministry is implementing the projects of the first phase of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life” to develop the Egyptian countryside, in 25 centers in 10 governorates, which includes 741 villages and their dependencies, where 2,710 sanitation projects, 900 drinking water projects, and 3,642 electricity projects have been implemented and are being implemented.
