$427.2 million.. the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Turkey
The total trade exchange between Egypt and Turkey during the first three months of 2023 amounted to 427 million and $214 thousand.
A Turkish diplomat revealed that his country's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had invited President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to visit Ankara.
The Turkish newspaper, Zaman, had quoted the Turkish Chargé d'Affaires in Cairo, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Chan, as saying: "Our president sent an invitation to President Sisi to visit Turkey."
Ahmed Sayed Ahmed, a political analyst, said that Turkish President Erdogan's invitation to President Sisi to visit his country "was not officially announced" comes in the context of the natural development in relations between Ankara and Cairo during the recent period, which witnessed great progress towards a full return to relations between the two countries.
The report of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, on foreign trade data in March 2023, revealed that the value of the trade balance deficit amounted to $1.96 billion during March 2023, compared to $3.89 billion for the same month of the previous year, a decrease of 49.6%.
The agency’s report indicated that the total trade exchange between Egypt and Turkey during the first three months of 2023 amounted to 427 million and $214 thousand. The report revealed that trade exchange concentrated in five categories:
1- Fuel, mineral oils and their distillation products, $147.7 million
2- Fertilizers, $53.121 million
3- Plastics and articles thereof, $33.674 million
4- Inorganic chemical products, $26.226 million
5- Synthetic or artificial bristles, $25.597 million
Egyptian-Turkish relations
The Egyptian-Turkish relations had witnessed a great development, as the meeting of the two leaders, Sisi and Erdogan in Qatar last November, opened the door to a full normalization of relations between Cairo and Ankara and ending a political estrangement that exceeded 10 years ago.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, discussed ways to normalize relations between the two countries, as the contact dealt with bilateral cooperation files and exchange of visits at various levels.
Al-Sisi and Erdogan met last year in Doha, after years of strained relations between the two countries. Al-Sisi congratulated Erdogan after winning the presidential elections last month.
