3 Conditions for an expatriate to obtain a duty-free car

In a move aimed at assisting expatriates, Parliament, headed by Chancellor Dr. Hanafi Gabali, approved the conditions that must be met by the importer of the duty-free car for Egyptians abroad, as well as the specifications of the car to be imported.

(Article 2) of the draft law stipulates several conditions that must be met by an Egyptian who wishes to benefit from the provisions of this law, including:

1- Paying the cash amount stipulated in Article (1) of this Law.

2- To have a valid legal residence outside the country.

3- The expatriate must not be less than 16 full calendar years of age.

3- He must have a bank account abroad that has been opened for at least 3 months.

An exception is made from these conditions for the spouse of an Egyptian residing abroad and his children, if the remaining conditions stipulated in this article are fulfilled in their regard.

While (Article 3) stipulates: A car that is imported from a person other than the first owner, in accordance with the provisions of this law, must not be older than three years from the year of manufacture, on the date of its provisions
