The Export Council for Food Industries announced that exports to European Union countries increased to 22% of Egypt's total exports of food industries during the first 4 months of 2023, at a rate of $262 million.
Engineer Tamim El-Dawy, Deputy Executive Director of the Export Council for Food Industries, revealed that the European Union countries accounted for about 22% of Egypt's total exports of food industries during the first 4 months of 2023, to record about $262 million.

This came during a symposium on the German due diligence law and its impact on food industry exports to Europe and America in cooperation with the Commercial Representation Authority. The European Union also revealed that Egyptian processed foods rose in 2022 to $823 million out of a total of $4.1 billion.
Egyptian food industry exports to the European Union increased by 30% in 2022, with a value of $823 million, compared to $634 million in 2021.
In addition, 15 commodities accounted for 82% of the total Egyptian food industry commodities exported to the European Union countries in 2022, at a value of $676 million.
Frozen strawberry
Frozen strawberries come on top of the most important Egyptian food commodities exported to the European Union countries in 2022, with a value of $154 million, representing 19% of total exports.
It was followed by animal food and sugar bagasse with a value of $63 million, then grease and fats with a value of $58 million.
Egypt exported oilseeds and fruits worth $48 million to European Union countries, pickled vegetables worth $46 million, animal guts and intestines worth $39 million, frozen artichokes worth $33 million, frozen vegetables worth $33 million, dried onions worth $32 million, and yeasts. at a value of $32 million.
Egypt's exports to the European Union during 2022 amounted to about $31 million in tomato concentrates, around $31 million in aromatic oils and resins, $28 million in vegetable preparations, $27 million in black honey, and $21 million in juices.
Al-Dawy stated that the number of Egyptian food companies exporting food industries to the European Union in 2022 amounted to about 768 companies and exporters, including 147 companies whose exports exceed one million dollars.
