19,000 barrels of oil per day... a jump in the production of the North Jessum field in the eastern desert
Sustaining operations, preserving workers and facilities, achieving environmental compatibility and reducing emissions are fundamentals from which the Ministry's work strategy does not deviate.
Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met today; At the Council’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, to follow up on work efforts on several files.
The Prime Minister affirmed the interest that the state attaches to electricity and energy projects, with the aim of continuously improving the services provided by this vital sector, as it affects the lives of citizens, and is also linked to efforts to push investment and achieve development goals in their comprehensive concept.
Various strategic and development projects
During the meeting, Dr. Mohamed Shaker presented efforts to provide electricity for various strategic and development projects, as well as the establishment of stations and transformers, and the continuous development of the national electricity grid.
Pointing out that this development has contributed significantly to reducing the severity of outages, especially in the summer, while addressing faults quickly and effectively.
Renewable energy
The minister discussed the most important steps taken in the file of attracting investments in the field of energy, as part of the state's drive to enhance the participation of the local and foreign private sector in projects, especially in the field of renewable energy.
He referred to the position of implementing a number of ongoing projects to generate electricity from wind energy, as well as the production of green hydrogen, in line with the Egyptian state's strategy to increase the contribution of renewable energy to the electric energy mix.
North Jessum field
In related context, Engineer Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inaugurated the expansion of the North Jessum field in the Petrogulf concession area in the Gulf of Oil in the Eastern Desert which witnessed a development and increase in production and reserves.
North Jessum field production jumped from 4 thousand to 19 thousand barrels of oil per day, and the proven reserves increased from 118 million to about 203 million barrels during the first half of the current year 2023.
Petroleum wealth
The minister stressed that the new expansions and increased production come as a direct result of the ministry's strategy to increase and maximize the production of petroleum wealth and to accelerate the development of new petroleum projects on the production map.
Al-Mulla stressed the importance of adhering to the application of the highest safety standards in business management, pointing out that the sustainability of operations, the preservation of workers and facilities, achieving environmental compatibility and reducing emissions are fundamentals from which the ministry's work strategy does not deviate, especially as this achieves economic and environmental returns that add to the productive value.
Petroleum sector
Engineer Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, affirmed that the petroleum sector is currently implementing several important strategic projects in the fields of refining and petrochemicals, aiming to increase production capacity of petroleum products, expand value-added industries, and achieve the maximum possible benefit from Egypt's natural resources, in parallel with working to reduce carbon emissions.
